Creative process:
1/ Drawing from scratch with the pen tool (P) + optional use of grids
2/ Working with the outline mode (Y) to make sure all paths are connected
3/ Expanding all shapes and merging them in a compound path
4/ Saving them as an SVG and verifing that all shapes are perfectly sleek
